Visit to Capri

Before we headed back to Rome we got to spend a couple nights in Capri. We had to take a 40 minute boat ride over the choppy Mediterranean Sea to reach the island. When we got there, it was storming and we had forgot our umbrellas/rain jackets. So we had to run from the boat to the train, then the train to the hotel. Needless to say, it was quite an adventure. Here are some pictures. Sorry, the pictures are out of order thanks to the Google Blog, and its a pain to get them all in order.

Our first night in Capri was also our 1 year anniversary. We decided to ditch the group dinner and go out by ourselves (good plan). We went to Capri's Restaurant (I know, not very original name) which had a great view overlooking the water. There we had pizza and ravioli both of which were fantastic. I guess if we were anywhere else and I said we had pizza and ravioli for our anniversary dinner you might not think of us as classy people. Its kind of hard to make Pappa Johns and Chef Boyardee a fancy meal. Afterwards we got gelato at our new favorite Gelateria (picture to come later).

Here are people outside of the famous Blue Grotto. The man int he blue shirt is about to take some people into the grotto, but first he must duck way down to fit. We didn't go in because the water was really choppy and the sun wasn't out, therefore the reflections you see inside of the cave would not be that spectacular.

A view of the town of Capri from the other town of Anacapri.

There are lemons. There are tons of lemons and pictures of lemons for sale in Capri.

Laura and I from the balcony at our hotel. This was the only picture in which I used my tripod. I carried that stupid thing all throughout Italy and only used it once.

Holy crap!!! More lemons!

A floral arrangement at one of the hotels. Laura told me to get a picture of it.

This is an Italian in a boat.

A cup of cappuccino I had at one of the cafes (Caffe Maresca to be exact). It was pretty good.

This is part of the gardens in Villa San Michele. This villa had great gardens and the best view of Capri.

Here Laura is in front of our favorite dessert spot on the island. Here they had great gelato, but the best thing was their homemade waffle cones. They would make them right in front of you and slap a huge ball of gelato on top. The cones would still be pretty warm when you started eating. We went here a few times, so good thing it was close to the hotel.

I'm not sure how we made it off the island without buying several pairs of these flip flops (not for me). But there were many of these shops all over the island, and we must have stopped and looked in most.
