Pressure Washers

And with another chapter in the saga of getting the new house up to speed, I introduce to you the Pressure Washers.

Its clear to all that see our house that it could use a good pressure washing, mainly the front painted siding with its large black sections. The back deck is also in need of cleaning so it can be repainted. Now we have a couple options to get this work done.
1. We can buy or rent a pressure washer and do it ourselves.
2. We can hire somebody to do it for us.

Both options are equally good, but equally suck... I'll explain.

I, for one, have experience pressure washing. And I know that it's a large pain in the butt if you're not that good. And the only way to get good at it is to do it all day everyday. And I went to college so I wouldn't have to get good at pressure washing to make a living....just sayin'. Therefore, I really don't want to rent or buy the pressure washer just to spend a whole day doing a crappy job on the house. This isn't me being lazy. I just don't want to waste my time that I could spend watching tv or making excuses why I'm not in shape. You know? The tv isn't going to watch itself.

So it looks like we will be going with option 2. I called several of these pressure washing companies to give quotes and pretty much all of them were higher than we'd like to pay. Some of them advertised $129 whole house specials (up to 2000 sqft). This is cool, I know we have a bigger house so it will be more, but what I don't understand is how for simply cleaning the deck they quote 160 dollars! Our back deck is about 300 sqft, so why the hell does it cost 25% more to clean a deck than a whole house? You don't need a ladder. You don't need special formulas. Does anybody know? I should really ask but I'm afraid I would just get the standard pressure washer speak,

"well you know, we need a 37 degree wing tip adapter, and them aint cheap, and it takes reverse swawn stroke to effectively git all du crud outs from your wood slabs, and muh kid, Jasper really needs new markers to sniff, his are all dried up, so when you mathmatize all them costs its gonna run youz about 160, 170 bucks"

What we've decided to do is get somebody to wash the house and we will go ahead and clean/paint the deck ourselves. You really don't need a pressure washer to clean the deck, just some eco-friendly bleach, scrub brush, and about 130 beers.

check, check, and check.

So, if anybody wants to help paint, let me know and I will get you your favorite type of beer or flavor of capri sun. Both delicious.

Status updates to come as they are available.
