After Venice we started the drive toward Capri. Along the way we had a layover in Assisi. Capri is on the other side of the country from Vencie, so to drive there in one day would have been crazy. Anyway, Assisi was pretty nice because it had the medieval feel to it. The streets were narrow and many of the old structures were still in tact. Most people know Assisi because of St. Francis and St. Clair, both of whom have cathedrals dedicated to them.
Interestingly, or not for many of you, the tour company tried to introduce a tour package focusing on Assisi. Their idea was to have a tour centered around religious themes. But the package sold a grand total of zero tours so they took it off the market. Guess people only want one day of Assisi.....and that's what we got.
The facade of St. Francis Cathedral on the edge of Assisi. There are actually two churches here, one on top of the other. Both are very impressive.
A view of the Apennines from Assisi.
One of the many nuns running around the town.
Laura and I in front of St. Francis cathedral
A shot of the walkway outside of the cathedral. I thought it looked cool, but I didn't see too many others taking pictures of the ground.
Here is an Italian sewing something. I asked her what she was sewing, but I didn't understand what she was saying. I don't speak Italian......Actually I didn't ask her because she had a scowl on her face, and I'm afraid of needles.

On the bottom left you see the entrance to the lower church where St. Francis is buried. And up the stairs to the right you will find the entrance to the cathedral.
This is me with the Apennine valley in the background
Some of the stone buildings packed in the city.
