Last weekend Laura and I went up to Washington DC for her good friend, Jane's wedding. We were there from Thursday night until Sunday afternoon and had a wonderful time. Since Laura was in the wedding, she had to attend to many wedding duties which freed me up to tour the city. My buddy, Jason, who's girlfriend Jessica was also in the wedding came along as well.
On Friday we went to the other side of the river to get a highly recommended burger at Ray's Hell Burger. The burger was fantastic and huge. See for yourself.
After that we met up with Richard and checked out the Brickskeller. This place is a simple bar/restaurant that has over a 1000 beers to select from. Our waiter took the time to make some great recommendations and explain the nuances on the different beers we tried. We had the whole place to our self. What an awesome time!
After that we took the subway to Pennsylvania avenue and observed the city from one of the tallest points at the Old post office.
Later that night we attended the rehearsal dinner which was tons of fun. Didn't get too many pictures there because it was pretty dark, and I was too busy talking/eating/drinking. Fun times....fun times.
On Saturday we walked around the mall area and checked out most of the monuments. We didn't get a chance to see the Jefferson memorial because it was a little too far away. After lunch we checked out the International Spy Museum. It was really cool and I learned a lot about espionage, however I felt that the museum was targeting a much younger audience. You are not allowed to take pictures in the museum, but if you are a true spy, you wouldn't let that stop you. I am not a true spy. :(
The wedding that evening was a lot of fun. The ceremony was great, the cocktail hour was delicious, and the reception was not stop eating, drinking and dancing. A great evening and day all in all.
On Sunday Laura and I met up with Richard and Christiane for brunch. It was nice to see them again since they moved away last year. Having everybody in Atlanta for a few years a while ago was really great, but everybody cant stay in the same town forever. After brunch Laura took Christiane into the hotel we stayed at (The Willard) and showed her some of the flowers they had on display. I took a few pictures as well.
It was a great weekend!! Congratulations to Jane and Mark for getting married!
